Tanswell's is thrilled to host the acclaimed Los Angeles folk trio Sylvie on their second Australian tour!
In 1975, John Schwab and his band “Mad Anthony” sat in a barn in Southern California and recorded their songs. It was a narrative that was common during this period - the band was close to a record deal but it never came, and the tapes were stored in a box in a closet. Decades later, in a small town in Ohio, his son Ben Schwab came across them. The recordings would imprint a sound and feeling that he would end up chasing. They were timeless, effortless, and soulful. A harmonic birthright.
Ben had a long career as a professional inline skater that sent waves through the subculture, before watching the industry fade away. Following a period at CalArts, he formed his first band, Golden Daze, and later joined the group Drugdealer. Sylvie is the full return to the musical lineage and spirit that lived in all those lost yet beloved cassettes and reels. True to Mad Anthony’s form, Ben and his friends also sat around in a garage in LA to make these recordings. Of course his father’s voice is featured prominently, he sings one of the songs. Not much has changed.
-Mike Collins (Drugdealer)

The Rarebit Fiends offer a cheese-fuelled fever dream of country-fried classics. It's a heroic dose of Sabbath to Spears from your resident front-bar psychedelic surgeons!
One of our favourite songwriters returns to the pub: Benny Williams!
The Distant South is an independent alt-country band based in Melbourne. Their songs are written with brutal honesty: confessional, raw, and instantly relatable. Blending the sounds of country, folk, blues and soul, The Distant South channel heartache and angst into captivating performances that are melancholic yet somehow uplifting. With two EPs and a full-length album already behind them, the band is currently back in the studio, hard at work on their second album.
Australia’s favourite beer-fuelled legends Cosmic Psychos are back with their twelfth studio album, I Really Like Beer, on Friday November 7, and they’re hitting the road the very same day. No mucking around.
To mark the album release, the band is heading off on their most ridiculous tour yet. 42 regional dates right across Australia, kicking off in early November and charging into 2025. RSLs, pubs, halls and hard-earned beers with the local townsfolk.
The band will be joined on drums by none other than Dan Peters (Mudhoney, Nirvana) for the first leg and that young whippersnapper BC from Dune Rats on the second stretch. One tour. Two drummers. No downtime. We dare you to find a more extensive tour in Aussie Rock history.
