Melbourne-based, 7-piece soul-funk outfit Steppers are proud to present a body of work truly representative of their unspoken dialect; a sonic language communicated in groove, translated through dance.

Unhindered by any one mode or method of creation, their 6-track debut album launches Saturday 5 May at Tanswells Hotel, Beechworth, with the full weight of their combined experience and musicality.

Led by the beats and vocals of the esteemed Reginald AK, Steppers boldly anchors their ties to the Australian music scene (The Bamboos, Melbourne Ska Orchestra, Ausecuma Beats, Bumpy, Kylie Auldist) using Rhodes, Telecaster and a unique strand of bass-driven & horn-laden cadence to solidify their distinctive take on soul, funk & RnB.

Ballarat alt-country songwriter Jeremy Beggs will celebrate the upcoming release of his debut album The Long Road with a special album preview show at the iconic Tanswell Hotel on May 8.

The album represents Jeremy’s determination to stay the course through doubt and finally feel comfortable in who he is as an artist and person. This album could easily not have happened. He could have played it safe. He could have chosen not to start. But Jeremy did — and along the way he learned that it’s okay to be. Not perfect. Still growing. Still questioning. But okay.

These songs trace his journey — emotionally, spiritually, and musically. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Jason Isbell, John Moreland, Nathaniel Rateliff, and Joe Pug, the album carries those influences while still maintaining a distinctly Australiana feel and sound. He will be joined by his band The Long Road Travellers.

The power trio of Jules Sheldon (vocals, guitars), Joseph Foley (bass, lap, steel, vocals), and James Turner (drums) have spent the last three years bringing their energetic live shows and unique jangly country-punk sound to venues all around Victoria, sharing stages with artists such as Mick Thomas, Jae Laffer, and Skyscraper Stan, while building up their own devoted fanbase along the way.

Made up of siblings Lily (she/her) and Pearl Harnath (they/them) with Henry Lucas (he/him) on drums, the band uses shoegaze-y, fuzzy guitars and loud, heavy drums to accompany reflective lyricism in a bittersweet and cathartic manner. Their upcoming album Again, Again is the band at their grittiest and most honest. Over the ten tracks, the band delve deep into the cycles they find themselves in throughout life, both destructive and productive. There is comfort in repetition and also frustration, all of which is conveyed through raucous and tender moments. The result is a textured set of fuzzed out songs that ultimately see the band finding comfort in the relentlessness of life’s cycles, twists and turns

Alt-folk band Norwood are celebrating the release of their latest single Wasting Time with a run of shows up the East Coast, stopping off for a special band show at Tanswells Hotel. Supported by Munroe!

Starting as a duo comprised of Ollie Browne (Art of Fighting, The Hoodangers) and Kristian Brenchley (S:Bahn, Degreaser), The Remotes debuted in 1998 with the album "Lonely Tremor". Since then, they’ve been separated by oceans and ensconced in other bands. In 2024, the duo reconvened and welcomed third member Laura MacFarlane (Ninetynine, Sleater-Kinney).

Their second album, "Ready For It", combines recordings made with Neil Thomason at Headgap in 2011 with new sessions in 2025 at Soundpark with Andrew ‘Idge’ Hehir. The band’s MO has always been blending Browne’s gentle vocals and slow-pop leanings with Brenchley’s gnarly and impressionistic lead guitar. For the recent sessions, the inimitable MacFarlane joined on drums, percussion, keys and vocals, creating the final pillar of the band’s sound.
